Flight Operations

Hello pilots,

Summer-season 2010 is finished. Almost everybody is back from holiday. We hope you are ready for another exciting year in our VA, full of new Tours and some great events!

Time for us to take a look what happened during these summer-months and also give you a preview on what is coming up!

First of all, Flight Operations Department regrets that, due to technical reasons, the summer-timetable of Brussels Airlines isn’t used.

Off course we will return with a new winter-timetable in a few months.

More then 2 months ago, on 19/06/2010, we had our last event, the “North Atlantic Track Event” who was part of our Dangerous Approaches & Difficult flights.

The purpose was to fly to New York with  the real NAT of that moment. We organized this event in cooperation with IVAO Belgium.

Many pilots subscribed for this event but never showed up on the day of the event. The organization of an event like this, is taking a lot of time and the least thing to do is to unsubscribe yourself when you are not able to fly. Therefore we will reinstore the penalty-system as from now on. This means a pilot will be penalized when not respecting the subscription he/she has made.

On 08/06/2010 we organized the last String of Stars, which was a flight to the International Jazz Festival of Glasgow.

For all new pilots and as reminder to all other ones, we would like to inform you that we will continue to organize these group-flights once a month.

As many of you know, for these flights, there is always a SVAG-channel on Teamspeak when we are flying in uncontrolled space (=Unicom). The ideal place to discuss share some flying-expercience. If you don’t know how to connect, please read our forum (http://www.svagroup.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4637).

This year we chose not to organize special “Summer Flights” but to promote our Sobelair-flights which are almost all holiday-destinations.

We do not have the complete statistics, but we can already mention that a lot of Sobelair-flight were flown during these summer-months.

Therefore, we will continue to organize the monthly Sobelair-poll in our forum. In this poll you will be able to choose a destination that is not served in any of our timetables.

Untill now we had flights to Innsbruck, Salzburg, Orlando and Saint-Martin. Verify the special Sobelair flight for september on our forum.

On 01/09/2010 our second tour in the “Biggest”-series came to an end. With 50 flights to and from the World’s Biggest Airports, this tour was a real challenge.

18 pilots completed this tour and received the award. Check out the Upcoming page to see the next tour in the “Biggest”-series!

On 11/07/2010 the national team of Spain won the FIFA World Championship. Our VA visited each participating country before the start of the Championship, flew to all cities in South-Africa during the Championship and off course brought everybody back to Brussels afterwards. The tour was open for 3 months as from 1/5/2010 untill 31/07/2010. 7 pilots completed all flights and received the special World Championship 2010 award.

Keep it safe in the sky !
